Karen Smith-Pomeroy

Chair from October 2019, Director since 2011

Karen has over 30 years’ experience in the financial services sector, holding senior executive roles within large financial services organisations. She has significant experience in risk and governance and extensive experience working with a wide range of companies across the property and infrastructure sectors nationally. Karen also currently holds a range of other board roles across different sectors.
Stephen Denaro

Director of NAHC since 2010

Stephen has extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, business valuations, accountancy services, and income tax compliance gained from positions as Company Secretary, Director and Chief Financial Officer of various ASX listed and unlisted public companies, and with major chartered accountancy firms in Australia and the United Kingdom.
Belinda Drew

Director of NAHC since 2020

Belinda has over 20 years’ experience in the community services industry including 10 years as CEO of financial services organisation Foresters. Belinda has extensive experience in the area of social impact investment and has also worked across the fields of disability, homelessness, child protection and housing. Belinda is CEO of the Community Services Industry Alliance and also holds a range of advisory and Board roles across community services and social enterprise.
Heather Watson

Director of NAHC since 2014

As a lawyer with more than 30 years in legal practice, Heather brings legal, commercial and governance skills, particularly in the charitable and not for profit sector. Her industry experience includes health and community services, infrastructure, affordable housing, philanthropy and indigenous communities. She is a non-executive director on a number of government and charitable entities including the Advisory Board for the Australian Charities and Not for Profits Commission.
Peter Wells

Director of NAHC since 2020

Peter is an experienced public and private sector executive, board director and university lecturer with a demonstrated history of working across government, industry and consulting. Peter’s career includes significant executive and board leadership experience and he has achieved major results in key roles. With a background in large scale customer service, regulation, urban planning, transport, environment, infrastructure and managing large operational functions, Peter has also developed and implemented major reforms.
Scott King

Director of NAHC since 2020

Scott is a seasoned professional with extensive strategic and operational experience, particularly at Board and Executive levels. His expertise spans the full spectrum of corporate and retail strategy, and he has also helped navigate Board and Management teams through periods of change. With the belief that the right people, thoughts and ideas can catapult a business and brand, Scott has an entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving and decision making, combined with a genuinely collaborative style of team leadership.
Michael Schaumburg

Director of NAHC since 2020

Michael is a chief executive and project director with three decades of varied experience in the infrastructure and resources sectors and industry development. Michael has an accomplished track record of growing organisations efficiently, effectively and sustainably and advancing major projects to deliver immediate and significant outcomes and returns.

Professor George William Earl

Board Member and Chair at NAHC from 2011-2019

Professor Earl has over 20 years ‘on ground’ experience as a construction economist and property development manager working in the United Kingdom, Australia and the Pacific region. Professor Earl is an Honorary Professor at Bond University and a Professor at Griffith University. We sincerely thank Professor Earl for his leadership as Chair, and for his dedication in helping NAHC achieve its mission of facilitating affordable housing outcomes for Australians.
Jeff Dutton

NAHC Founding Director and NAHC Director 2008 - 2019

Jeff has over 30 years' experience as a consultant and has held senior management roles in private, public and not for profit organisations. He has been associated with community housing for twenty years. With a focus on sustainability, project management, risk and governance, he has designed and delivered strategic and operational planning processes in public, private, and community organisations. We sincerely thank Jeff for his continued commitment to helping NAHC achieve its mission of facilitating affordable housing outcomes for Australians.
Brad Hosking

NAHC Director 2009 - 2020 [Retired after serving a full 3 terms]

For almost twelve years as a Director, Brad brought his diverse range of skills and expertise to NAHC. This was supported by his experience in leadership, construction and development finance, property and risk management, business development, tertiary education and community housing including as Corporate Director for Common Equity Housing Limited in Victoria. We sincerely thank Brad for sharing his advice and guidance to help NAHC achieve its mission of facilitating affordable housing outcomes for Australians.

Mike Myers

Managing Director of NAHC

Mike has 38 years of experience in senior executive roles in social and affordable housing, including direct housing provision, policy development and legal and advisory services in the UK and in Australia from 1996. Mike is the Founder and Managing Director of the National Affordable Housing Consortium, one of Australia's leaders in the provision of affordable housing, with almost 4,000 dwellings built and $1.4 billion in private investment attracted.

Tracy Dare

General Manager Strategy & Execution

Tracy has extensive experience in senior executive roles across corporate and 'for purpose' businesses. Her strengths are in strategy development & execution, transformational leadership, growth, operations/service delivery, business development and strategic partnerships. Tracy also has extensive property experience - strategy, investment, development, asset management, property management, sales & marketing and sector experience in aged care, retirement living and seniors/affordable housing. Tracy is a Chartered Accountant, former Partner of KPMG, Registered Real Estate Agent and a professional Non-Executive Director.
Julie Laughton

Chief Financial Officer (Interim)

Julie is a purpose driven senior executive financial officer with financial and corporate services leadership experience across diverse industries including technology, commercial development, government and not-for-profit. Julie has built and supported innovative businesses to establish, develop, and achieve success in local and international markets. Julie is a Certified Practicing Accountant (CPA) and has a depth of experience across strategy and investment planning, development of highly effective business models, financial analysis, and performance reporting. As a values driven professional, Julie has held Executive and Non-Executive Director roles with prominent not-for-profit organizations.
Hariet Brummelhuis

Chief Operating Officer

Hariet has more than 15 years’ experience in executive roles in the human services sector, including 10 years in social and affordable housing across QLD and NSW, and various roles in organisations providing aged care, disability support, child safety and family support services. Hariet is a corporate services professional with strengths in corporate governance, risk and compliance, human resources, finance, strategy, leadership, business development and transformation. Hariet is values driven and committed to providing outcomes that meet the needs of the community.
Darren Doyle
