Coronavirus: Important measures NAHC is taking to mitigate the risk and further spread of COVID-19

Information for tenants

If you are currently renting a property through NAHC, HERS or HERS Property, please read the below information regarding changes to our operations:

The following information will provide you with the details of changes to our operations affecting your tenancy during this time

Coming into our Office

In protecting our community, we are conducting all business by phone and email where possible. Please contact us by phone or email and we will attend to your enquiry accordingly.

If you need to return any signed lease agreements, forms or documents to any of our offices, please email them to us if you can. If you need to deliver them as hard copy please post them to us and call us to let us know. Thank you.

Routine Property Inspections

To assist the Government to try and contain and slow the spread of Corona virus, we have made the decision to cancel routine inspections scheduled for the next three months (until 30 June 2020) in order to minimise risk for both property managers and tenants.

General Tenancy Agreement

The terms and conditions of your General Tenancy Agreement, including NRAS special terms will remain the same.

Support for Those Experiencing Hardship

Recently announced by the Australian Government was a $750 cash payment to welfare recipients, including those on Newstart, the disability support pension, carers’ allowance, youth allowance, veterans support payments, family tax benefits, the Commonwealth senior health card-holders and aged pensioners. Please check the news for more information and Government announcements as they arise.

Property Maintenance and Repairs

Our measures should have no impact on maintenance requests or the process for emergency repairs, however we will need to comply with any measures imposed by our maintenance contractors during this time. Some services, such as maintenance conducted by trade-services, may be disrupted during this time.

If you have any maintenance or repairs to report, please advise us in writing (email preferred). If an emergency repair is required, please contact us by phone.

In the event of an emergency where you do not receive a response from NAHC in time, please contact our preferred tradesperson.

Please note if a tradesman deems that the call out is not an emergency a tenant can be liable for the costs of this job. For the description of an emergency, please refer to the Residential Tenancies Website.
